Hidden Gems of Zhanjiang Old Street | Street Food, Laughter & Sunset Walk in Southern China

A 3-minute stroll through the heart of Zhanjiang, China — from the riverside to the old pier. Zhanjiang is a coastal city located at the southern tip of mainland China. Once influenced by French colonial architecture, the city still preserves its unique blend of history and tropical charm. Famous for its arcade-style streets and delicious seafood barbecue, Zhanjiang offers a relaxed yet vibrant local life. We started at Nanchiao River, met a singing blind man, passed the former mansion of Zhanjiang’s “Ship King,” now turned antique market, and wandered through old alleys lined with oyster-shell walls and lazy cats. As the sun set by the historic dock, we grabbed fresh Uyghur naan from a street vendor, then ended the day with local barbecue and matcha drinks.
